  1. We spent Memorial Day in the Norfolk area, as well. Breakfast at the D’Egg diner and a ferry ride with an older Canadian gentleman who had a one sided CanAm discussion with me. A retired History teacher from Alberta, he re-educated me on the not-so-subtle differences that our American history books have with those north of the border. I mentioned the whole Plains of Abraham thing, but he was really keyed up about a couple of invasions that the US attempted on Canada. I felt like apologizing! He really disliked being here- he hates the crime- and to make for good conversation we talked about the low crime rate in Canada… and Lynchburg; it was nice to find common ground!
